The endless battle with frizzy hair is something that those of us with curly, coily, wavy, dry hair types, frizz are all too familiar with.
Whether it’s heat, humidity, or just everyday life that’s causing your hair to look frizzy, these three tips will help you tackle this stubborn hair faux pas.
A Solid Hair Care Routine
Similar to how we hair a skincare routine that tends to our skin’s needs everyday, we need to do the same for our hair. If you have dry, frizzy hair, you’ll want to put your focus on hydration.
Using high-quality products that leave-out any drying or irritating ingredients like silicones, sulfates, and parabens will help your hair heal overtime and make it easier to style on a daily basis. Look for products that include Glycerin, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Oil as these ingredients hydrate the hair and seal it for protection against humidity.
Take notice of the hair tools you're using everyday. Instead of using a body towel to dry your hair, opt for a microfiber towel. Replace your dry-bristle brush for one that is wet-hair-friendly and can be used in the shower. Avoid brushing your hair post-shower if your hair is wavy, curly, or coily.
Protective, Effortless Styles
If you're in a pinch, try out a hairstyle that masks your frizz from looking “out-of-control”. Utilizing scarves, headbands, and clips to secure your hair in different ways can minimize the look of frizz, and protect your hair from the heat and sun.
There are tons of different styles that you can try out - check out some of our favorite effortless styles here.
Gels + Waxes
If you’re still experiencing frizz after following a healthy hair care routine, it might be time to pull in a styling product. Using a soft-hold gel, or a wax stick along the crown of your hair will slick back frizz short-term.
Although these products are great for achieving different hair styles, be careful not to pull your hair back too tightly with them or overuse the product so that it sits heavily on your hair and scalp. This can lead to over-washing later on, which will strip your hair of moisture and cause even more frizz.
